Proud Mary Comes to West Fargo

Anyone who listens to radio here in the Fargo-Moorhead area already knows that the 3rd annual Singing with the Stars karaoke charity event is Saturday night at Divas and Rockstars in West Fargo. The fundraiser is for Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Red River Valley. A handful of the very best singers in the F-M area are teamed up with local media “celebrities” for a night of what promises to be complete lunacy.
I was asked about three months ago if I’d take part and said yes. I said yes without thinking about what I was actually committing to: Singing. Singing with someone who can really sing. Singing with someone who can really sing in front of a packed club. Obviously I was in the midst of a moment where all ability for rational judgment was beyond my grasp. But now the day has come so it’s time to kick it into overdrive, get my game-face on and make something happen.
We’ve kept the song we’re doing a secret… until now. Being blessed to be teamed with Ansley Cameron, an incredible musical talent, her insane off-the-charts voice has compelled us to go after one of the greatest, coolest songs ever: Proud Mary. Naturally, the version we’re doing is Tina and Ike Turner. I’ve decided to sing Ike’s part. It was that or wear heels.
In honor of Ike and Tina back in the day, here’s what we’re shooting for. And make no mistake – as Ansley likes to say – We’re Bringin’ the Fury!

Haha… you are a brave soul, Christopher Gabriel. I’m sure it’s going to be a good time for all, though. I’m sure there will be pictures and/or videos from the event, yes?

Somebody (allegedly) took video of Ansley and I singing… and some pictures were taken, too. Once I get either, or both, I’ll post them.
Oh – I should mention………….we won!
